The General Motors 6L80 and 6L90 transmission platforms are known for their tendency to develop cracked 1-2-3-4 apply pistons, often caused by cantilevered stress on the cast material. This issue is exacerbated in vehicles with aftermarket tuning that increases line pressure. Despite revisions to the original GM part, a high failure rate persists. The Sonnax Heavy Duty 1-2-3-4 Apply Piston is engineered to resolve this common problem. Constructed from significantly stronger billet aluminum, this piston incorporates superior design refinements that enhance its durability and prevent catastrophic failure. It directly replaces OE piston #24238700 and is considered a mandatory upgrade for modified vehicles utilizing the 6L80/6L90 transmission. It is important to note that this piston does not fit 2006-2007 units that use OE part number #24224146.
