The Motobilt DIY 2.5 Ton Axle Diff Cover Skid (MB4089) is a weld-it-yourself kit designed to protect the differential of 2.5-ton axles. It is laser cut and formed from a combination of 3/8” and 1/4” high-strength steel plate. This heavy-duty cover is intended to prevent common factory diff cover failures such as peeling, bending into the ring gear, or punctures, which can lead to fluid leaks and gear damage. The kit includes pre-formed pieces and hardware, and assembly instructions are provided. Motobilt offers a lifetime warranty against trail damage and manufacturing defects, though this does not cover incorrect welding of DIY kits. An experienced welder is recommended for assembly, and test fitting onto the axle before final welding is strongly advised.
