105-B 206-B Epoxy Resin System

The West System Slow Kit is a 1.2-gallon (154.1 fl oz) epoxy system featuring 105-B Epoxy Resin and 206-B Slow Hardener. This formulation is ideal for situations where an extended working time or a longer cure is necessary, and it also provides adequate working time at higher shop temperatures. The recommended mix ratio is 5 parts resin to 1 part hardener. When combined, the 105 Resin and 206 Slow Hardener create a yellow, rigid, high-strength, and moisture-resistant solid. This mixture provides excellent bonding and barrier coating properties, making it suitable for various applications. However, it is explicitly stated that the cured resin/206 Slow Hardener mixture is not intended for clear coating. Key working and curing times for this kit include a pot life of 20 to 25 minutes at 72°F (22°C), a cure to a solid state in 10 to 15 hours, and a cure to maximum strength within 1 to 4 days. The minimum recommended working temperature is 60°F (16°C). The product weighs 13.650 lb. Unlike traditional wood glues, WEST SYSTEM epoxy mixtures are stronger than wood and many other substrates. This characteristic means that excessive clamping force is not required. The primary goal of clamping is to ensure complete contact between the epoxy and the substrates for the duration of the cure time, with moderate clamp force being sufficient.
