10R140 Transmission Assembly

The Suncoast 10R140 Transmission Category 1 is a remanufactured 10-speed automatic transmission engineered to enhance the performance and durability of high-horsepower engines. Co-developed by Ford and General Motors, the 10R140 transmission is designed to blend the efficiency of a CVT with the feel of a traditional automatic, featuring a wide 7.39 gear ratio spread and a low 4.70 first gear for strong off-the-line acceleration. The small steps between gears, with approximately a 20% RPM drop, ensure the engine remains in its optimal performance or efficiency range. This transmission is equipped with Raybestos Powertrain GPZ friction plates, which significantly improve performance and durability by withstanding higher stress and temperatures compared to OE materials. It also includes a newly designed Thermal Flow Control Filter. This filter uses a dual-media system (fine and coarse) with a thermal plate that adjusts flow based on fluid temperature, ensuring superior filtration of finer debris once the fluid is heated. The Suncoast assembly features an upgraded 10R140 pump and a Pro Loc valve body, specifically designed to address issues found in demanding driving conditions such as heavy towing, hauling, street racing, and drag racing. The Pro Loc valve body modifies the lock-up circuit to increase the lockup holding apply fluid pressure and improve oil transition time to the TCC clutch, resulting in quicker apply times, reduced clutch degradation, and enhanced reliability. The line pressure increase can be up to 60 psi, with a 33% decrease in clutch actuation and regulator pressure, and a 250% increase in cooler charge pressure. This transmission is designed for the 2020-2024 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 models equipped with the 6.7L engine. For maximum results in power levels exceeding 800HP, it is highly recommended that the TCC apply offset be changed in the factory calibration.
