12.19" Big Brake Kit

The Wilhelm Raceworks Big Brake Kit is engineered for the SW20 MR2, delivering superior stopping power and substantial weight savings. This kit is built around two-piece 12.19" rotors and utilizes Forged Narrow Dynalite (FNDL) or Forged Superlite (FSL) four-piston calipers for both front and rear, complemented by Wilwood MC4 mechanical parking brake calipers. The kit achieves significant weight reduction, with the complete brake system being approximately 13lb lighter than stock 91/92 brakes and 38lb lighter than 93+ brakes. For those seeking enhanced track performance, the kit offers larger Forged Superlite calipers with bigger and thicker pads, alongside HD or GT rotor options for improved durability, though these may add slight weight. The custom hats and caliper brackets are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, black anodized, and engineered to withstand significant brake torque with a substantial safety factor. Installation requires the removal of the stock rotor dust shields. The kit's parking brake system is capable of achieving deceleration rates sufficient for emergency brake function tests but is primarily intended as a parking brake. For front wheel clearance, an option to substitute thinner rear rotors and hats with a narrower front caliper is available, saving approximately 0.44 inches (11mm) of caliper-to-spoke clearance. The choice of calipers and rotor options can influence brake bias, with recommendations provided for different proportioning valves and driving styles. Most 16" wheels should clear the front brakes, but the rear parking caliper may pose fitment challenges with some 16" wheels, necessitating the use of provided templates for verification.
