12-Friction Plate LSD

Crafted from forged nickel-chromoly steel, this LSD utilizes a 12-friction plate design, making it the first of its kind on the market. It undergoes extensive heat treatments, including Super Sub-Zero and Cryogenic treatment, alongside shot peening and WPC processes. These treatments enhance core and surface strength, increase wear resistance, and extend the overall service life of the differential. Key benefits of this advanced construction include reduced friction, enhanced fatigue strength, and significantly lower weight, with this unit weighing only 3.74 kg. The design also features optimized internal lubrication through large windows and a multi-hole design. This results in exceptional durability, with no servicing required for an average of 2,000 km of special stage racing, while maintaining consistent and stable performance. The dual ramp bodies come with factory-spec 35/65 & 45/60 ramp angles, with other angles available upon request. Included with the LSD are ring gear/crown wheel bolts made of high-tensile steel (Grade 12.9). The manufacturer recommends using a high-strength threadlocker, such as Loctite 271 or 270/2701. An extra-thick Belleville/conical washer is also provided for those wishing to experiment with higher preload values. This Plate-Type LSD is designed for the Kia Picanto (2011–Present) with 1.0L & 1.2L engines and a 5-speed manual gearbox, including the Second (2011–2017) and Third (2017–Present) Generations. It is also compatible with the Hyundai i10 (2007–Present) with 1.0L & 1.2L engines and a 5-speed manual gearbox, covering the First (2007–2013), Second (2013–2019), and Third (2020–Present) Generations. It is important to use gear oils with shockproof additives or friction modifiers, commonly labeled as "LS" (Limited Slip) gear oils, specifically for plate-type LSDs. The most common recommended SAE grade is 75W-140 LS. Gear oil should be added directly to the LSD during installation into the gearbox.
