The Sundown Audio SA-12 v.3 D2 represents the next evolution in their acclaimed SA-Series subwoofers, built upon the legacy of the v.2 models. This 12-inch subwoofer is engineered for serious bass enthusiasts, capable of handling 1500 Watts RMS and peaking at 3000 Watts. It features a dual 2-ohm voice coil configuration, utilizing an aluminum 2.75-inch voice coil former that is extended by an additional 5mm for improved linear x-max of 22mm. The design incorporates a vented magnetic gap and solid pole piece with internal vent channels to manage heat effectively. Further enhancing its performance, the SA-12 v.3 D2 includes a magnet ID faraday ring and a pole cap faraday ring to minimize distortion and promote smoother acoustic response across the frequency spectrum. The motor and coil assembly is paired with a robust multi-layer spider and includes stitched-on double “XL” tinsel leads for durability. A competition-grade paper cone and a custom-tooled aluminum frame complete the build, offering a substantial X-mech limit of 41mm one-way excursion before coil bottoming. Specifications include an 8.4-inch mounting depth, a 12.84-inch outside diameter, and an 11.2-inch cut-out diameter. The frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 200 Hz.
