The AudioControl SPK-12S4 is a 12-inch high-performance subwoofer from the Spike Series, engineered to deliver intimidating and heart-pounding bass with low distortion. Key features include a high excursion design for ultra-low bass, allowing the subwoofer to move more air for higher sound pressure levels and increased volume capability. It utilizes a fiber matrix paper cone with mica coating for robust construction. The SPK-12S4 also incorporates a 3-layer high-temperature voice coil former and dual damping system for linear bass reproduction and consistent power handling, preventing localized hotspots. A dual dust cap system helps control enclosure compression, while an efficient heavy-duty motor design ensures powerful bass output. A removable subwoofer grille is included for added protection and aesthetics. This subwoofer offers an impedance of either 2 or 4 Ohms and handles 500W RMS with a maximum of 700W. Its frequency response ranges from 20-200 Hz, and it features a 2.5-inch voice coil diameter. The unit has an overall diameter of 12.76 inches, a cut-out diameter of 11.125 inches, and a mounting depth of 6.14 inches. Recommended enclosure volumes are 0.85-1.5 cubic feet for sealed enclosures and 1.25-2.75 cubic feet for ported enclosures. The included documentation lists a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
