The LN Engineering 160F Low Temperature Thermostat Insert is a German-made thermostat designed to open earlier than the factory thermostat. It is calibrated to be fully open between 180-185F, allowing for maximum cooling potential in Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models from 1997 through 2008. This thermostat is exclusive to LN Engineering and its distributors.

The LN Engineering 160F Low Temperature Thermostat Insert is engineered to optimize engine cooling in select Porsche models. Unlike the factory thermostat, which begins opening around 186.8F and is fully open near 210F, this unit starts opening sooner and is fully open by 180-185F. This earlier and wider opening allows for increased coolant flow, maximizing the cooling system's potential, which is particularly beneficial for engines experiencing high temperatures, such as during track use. This thermostat features a German-made, calibrated 160F thermostat insert. It is designed to be installed in Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models from 1997 through 2008. It also fits 2004-2006 Cayenne S and Turbo V8 models. For optimal installation and to prevent damage to the thermostat, the use of the 106-06.2 thermostat installation/removal tool is highly recommended. A thermostat housing gasket is sold separately. It is important to note that this thermostat does not fit Porsche 911 GT3, Turbo, or GT2 models. Additionally, some late-model cars may not display actual coolant temperature, meaning users might not see a visible change in operating temperature even after installation. LN Engineering recommends cleaning radiators and considering a 2-quart deep sump oil pan kit for tracked M96/M97 engines to further enhance cooling.
