The Pauter connecting rod set is designed for VW/Audi 12v & 24v VR6 motors that use 5/16" rod bolts. These rods feature Pauter's unique 164/20 cross beam design, forged from 4340 CRMO for strength and reliability. Sold as a balanced set of six, they are ready for installation.

The Pauter 164/20 connecting rod set is engineered for VW/Audi 12v and 24v VR6 engines utilizing 5/16" rod bolts. These rods are forged from E4340 vacuum melt chromoly and CNC machined to precise tolerances. They are heat-treated to Rockwell C36 and feature full coverage shotpeening for enhanced durability. Each set is end-to-end balanced for optimal performance. Pauter's distinctive cross beam design minimizes thin, non-uniform cross-sections, significantly improving resistance to fatigue failure. This design also spreads stress over a larger area, preventing concentration of destructive loads and providing maximum support in critical transitional areas. The streamlined contour offers subtle benefits in windage reduction, while the integrated beam ribbing around the wrist pin boss contributes to overall structural unity. These rods are supplied with ARP 2000 bolts, rated at 220,000 psi tensile strength, and include standard aluminum-bronze wrist pin bushings. They are compatible with OEM rod bearings or 034Motorsport Coated Rod Bearings. Note that this specific rod set does not fit VR6 engines found in R32 models that utilize 3/8" rod bolts.
