It features a custom bar-and-plate core tailored for Subaru turbo platforms, balancing heat transfer and pressure drop for optimal performance. Construction highlights include precision-cast and CNC-machined end tanks, 5-ply silicone couplers built for high-temperature environments, and a wide-mouth splitter to channel airflow effectively. The intercooler utilizes vibration-isolated mounting to prevent fatigue and cracking, and stainless BPV studs to protect against thread stripping. Each unit is thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and sealed before shipping to protect your engine from contaminants. Performance testing on a modified 2012 WRX showed that while pre-intercooler temperatures remained consistent, the GrimmSpeed unit maintained post-intercooler temperatures between 30–40°F, a significant improvement over the OEM intercooler which rose to 75°F under repeated load. This temperature stability is crucial for preventing knock and maintaining consistent power output during demanding driving conditions.
