The Eaton RTLO18918B is a heavy-duty, 18-speed manual transmission engineered for demanding applications, including Class 8 on-highway trucks and vocational uses. This transmission is part of Eaton's Roadranger line and features the patented Low-Inertia™ design, characterized by a main shaft that is not splined to the auxiliary drive gear. This innovative approach reduces mass and inertia, resulting in faster and easier upshifts as the main shaft synchronizes more quickly. The RTLO18918B offers 18 forward and 4 reverse speeds, with an impressive torque capacity of 1850 lbs.ft. (2508 Nm). Designed for versatility and reliability, the RTLO18918B boasts an overall gear reduction of 19.7 to 1 and a low gear ratio of 14.40. It provides economical performance with overdrive ratios of 0.73 and 0.86 for efficient cruising. The transmission utilizes helical gears in the auxiliary section for quieter operation and increased durability, along with an optimized lubrication system for enhanced cooling and lubrication in demanding conditions. Specifications for the RTLO18918B include SAE #1 and #2 clutch housing sizes, with cast iron and aluminum options available. It features two SAE standard PTO openings: a regular duty, 6-bolt opening on the right side and a heavy-duty, 8-bolt opening on the bottom. The PTO drive gears include a 45-tooth gear on the right and a 47-tooth gear on the left, both operating at 0.79 engine speed. The transmission requires approximately 13.3 liters of oil and is equipped with an integral oil pump and internal oil lines for directed lubrication. An oil cooler is available per application guidelines.
