The PPG 1st-4th gearset is a helical cut, dog engagement set designed for drift and drag racing. It offers close ratios and allows for fast shifting with or without the clutch. This gearset retains the stock overdrive 5th gear with synchromesh engagement.

The PPG 1st-4th Helical Cut Dog Engagement Gearset is engineered for high-performance driving, specifically for drift and drag racing applications. Praised by top drift racers globally, this gearset has been integrated into D1 teams across Japan and the USA. It features helical cut gears for quieter operation during street use while providing the close ratios and dog engagement necessary for rapid shifting, enabling clutchless gear changes. This gearset is rated for up to 1000 horsepower (flywheel) and includes billet selector forks. It maintains the stock overdrive 5th gear with its original synchromesh engagement. For vehicles exceeding 700hp, PPG recommends their solid billet mainshaft and billet sandwich plate as additional upgrades. Installation requires modification to the gearbox front cover due to a larger GM26 x 1 spline on the input shaft. Clutch plates or the drive hub will also need to be changed to accommodate this larger spline.
