Overview

The USP Oil Pump Conversion is a kit designed to replace the problematic balance shafts in Volkswagen/Audi 2.0T FSI engines. This conversion eliminates the costly wear issue and replaces the original oil pump with a larger, more durable unit from the 1.8T engine.

The Volkswagen/Audi 2.0T FSI engine is known for its balance shafts, which are prone to premature wear and expensive to repair. The USP Oil Pump Conversion kit offers a cost-effective alternative to replacing these balance shafts and the original oil pump. This kit replaces the FSI engine's balance shaft assembly and oil pump with a larger, more robust oil pump designed for the older 1.8T engine, which does not have balance shafts. This conversion not only enhances durability but also reduces the overall cost of eventual oil pump replacement. The benefits extend to improved lubrication and oil life, as the oil pan capacity is increased to approximately six quarts. The conversion kit includes the oil pump, oil pickup tube with O-ring, oil pump chain and tensioner, mounting bolts, oil pan baffle, crankshaft gear, chain tensioner, helicoil tap, helicoil, and crank sprocket. USP recommends installation by experienced mechanics. The process requires basic hand tools, metric sockets, Allen keys, a torque wrench, a three-jaw puller, a way to lift the vehicle, an M7 tap, and a 21/64-inch drill bit. A specialized drill guide kit is also recommended for drilling a required hole. This kit is compatible with any vehicle equipped with an FSI engine, including certain GTI, GLI, Passat, and Golf R models.
