Overview

The Dobinsons 2.2" IMS Monotube Strut is a direct, bolt-on replacement shock absorber designed for enhanced off-road performance. It features a heavy-duty 2.2" (56mm) shock body and a monotube IFP design for consistent damping and fade resistance.

Its EDP coating provides corrosion resistance, and the adjustable spring seat allows for fine-tuning of ride height.

The Dobinsons 2.2″ IMS Monotube Strut (IMS29-50732) is engineered for serious off-roaders and overlanders, offering a significant upgrade in performance and durability. This strut features a robust 2.2″ (56mm) heavy-duty shock body with 3mm thick DOM tubing, designed to increase oil volume and improve cooling efficiency for consistent damping even under extreme conditions. The monotube Internal Floating Piston (IFP) design effectively separates oil and gas, preventing cavitation and fade on rough terrain, during towing, or high-speed driving. It incorporates a high-flow, CNC-machined race piston (50mm or 60mm bore) for superior damping performance, complemented by a carbon-fiber/PTFE composite wear band that reduces friction and extends component life. However, it is crucial to note specific fitment and setup requirements. This strut is designed for the Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 from 2011 to 2015 and will not fit 2016+ models due to different lower mounts. It is also incompatible with Quadralift (air-ride) equipped vehicles. When installing, the coil seat must be set precisely at 540mm (21.25″) from the strut bushing eye; incorrect setup can lead to damage to the shocks, springs, and vehicle. Users should consult Dobinsons' instructions or contact support if unsure about the measurement process. The strut's lower shock clevis does not include a sway bar bracket.
