2.2" Monotube Strut

The Dobinsons 2.2″ IMS Monotube Strut is engineered for serious off-roaders and overlanders seeking maximum performance and durability. This strut features a heavy-duty 2.2″ (56mm) shock body and an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) monotube design, built to handle extreme conditions while maintaining consistent damping and comfort. Key features include a high-flow CNC-machined race piston (50mm bore) for superior performance, a carbon-fiber/PTFE composite wear band to reduce friction, and a 3mm thick DOM seamless tubing body honed to tight tolerances. A robust 3-stage FKM HNBR sealing system ensures ultimate reliability, while the EDP coating provides corrosion resistance and long-term durability. The strut is also fully re-buildable and re-valvable. This is a direct, bolt-on replacement strut, but it does not come with coil springs or top mounts. It is recommended to have these shocks assembled by a professional. The coil seat should be set at 226mm (8.89") from the strut bushing eye; incorrect setup can damage the shocks, springs, and vehicle. A differential drop kit is required due to the strut's longer travel, which can stress CV joints. Aftermarket high-flex upper control arms are also recommended. Dobinsons Front Long Travel Twin Tube Struts are suitable for Toyota FJ Cruiser 2010+ and Toyota 4Runner 2010 to 2018, providing 2.0" to 3.5" of lift. These struts have a higher spring seat that will give 1" of lift on top of the installed coils; for example, when matched with 2" lifted coils, they provide 3" of total lift. Using them with OE coils results in approximately 1" of lift. It is recommended to use new Dobinsons springs with these struts.
