The Honda H22A1 is a fully remanufactured 2.2L L4 engine, meeting or exceeding OEM specifications for 1996 Honda vehicles. This engine features DOHC and 16 valves, a displacement of 2.2 liters, and a power output of 185 HP at 6,800 rpm with 153 ft-lb of torque at 5,500 rpm. The remanufacturing process begins with a deep clean, where the engine is disassembled and hot tanked or thermally cleaned. Each component is then inspected using Magnaflux testing to detect microscopic cracks. Critical parts are CNC machined, and new components such as bearings, pistons, rings, lifters, oil pump, gaskets, Viton™ valve seals, freeze plugs, and galley plugs are installed. Depending on the engine, a new timing chain with tensioners or a new timing belt with a tensioner is fitted, along with a new water pump if it's timing-driven. After reassembly, each engine undergoes SIM testing, where cooling and oil systems are pressurized, and the crankshaft is spun at high RPM to verify compression and build quality. This meticulous process allows for industry-leading warranties, including up to 7 years and 1 million miles.
