The Sonnax 2.84 Ratio Input Carrier Kit (Part No. 77284-K) is engineered to enhance the performance of GM 4L60, 4L60-E, 4L65-E, and 4L70-E transmissions. The stock wide ratio of 3.06/1.63 can cause significant RPM drops that pull performance engines out of their power band. This kit transforms the transmission to a close ratio of 2.84/1.55, providing game-changing acceleration, especially beneficial on the track. This improved ratio keeps performance engines operating within their optimal power band, allowing for a longer pull in first and second gears. This leads to enhanced consistency and overall performance. Its gears are precision-ground to OE standards, and it includes thrust washers made from highly wear-resistant PTFE-coated material. The captured bearing is a thicker, late design, and lube channels are incorporated to direct oil to the pinion pins. The carrier can also be disassembled for inspection and service. Installation requires no special tools or machining, making it a straightforward upgrade for those looking to optimize their transmission's performance for racing or aggressive driving scenarios. The kit includes the carrier assembly and the input sun gear.
