The Texas Speed & Performance 224/228 camshaft is engineered for LS-based engines, including the 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, and 6.0L. It features a 224-degree intake duration and a 228-degree exhaust duration with .600"/.600" lift and a 112 LSA. This camshaft is highly regarded for its performance in streetable boost applications and provides excellent drivability with stock-like manners and a noticeable idle lope. In naturally aspirated applications, it is estimated to provide a 45-55+ HP increase, with even greater gains expected in boosted setups. A minimum compression ratio of 9.5:1 is recommended for optimal performance. Installation of this camshaft requires specific components and procedures. It necessitates the use of PAC 1219 or TSP/PAC Dual .660 valve springs. Additionally, an aftermarket stall converter with a rating of 2600+ RPM is required. Custom tuning is mandatory for proper operation and to achieve peak performance. An upgraded rear gear is not required for this camshaft installation. The operating RPM range for this camshaft is between 1500-6600 RPM.
