The TSP 228R Camshaft is a highly regarded performance camshaft designed for 5.7L and 6.0L engines, offering a significant power boost while maintaining excellent daily drivability. With its 228/228 duration, .600/.600 lift, and 112 LSA, this camshaft provides a strong powerband from 1800 to 6800 RPM. This camshaft is engineered to deliver approximately 5-7 more horsepower than its 224R counterpart, with dyno testing showing gains of 45-50+ rear-wheel horsepower. It is compatible with stock, untouched cylinder heads, featuring no piston-to-valve clearance issues, though measuring is always recommended. The ideal compression ratio for this cam is 10.1:1 or higher. For automatic transmissions, an aftermarket stall converter of 3200+ RPM is required, and a minimum of 3.23 rear gears is recommended for optimal performance. Manual transmission applications will also require tuning. Recommended valve springs include the Pac 1219 or TSP Double .660 Valve springs.
