The Texas Speed TSP 228R camshaft is a highly sought-after component for enthusiasts looking to upgrade their engine's performance. Engineered with lobes friendly to both beehive and double valve springs, this camshaft offers a compelling balance of power gains and street drivability. With specifications of 228 degrees duration and .600" lift on both intake and exhaust, paired with a 112 LSA (112 degree valve overlap), the 228R provides a noticeable increase in horsepower, estimated between 45-50rwhp over stock, and a powerband ideal for daily driving with an operating range of 1800-6800 RPM. It is specifically recommended for 5.7L and 6.0L engines, and while it fits stock, untouched heads without piston-to-valve clearance issues, measuring during installation is always advised. To maximize performance and ensure proper operation, this camshaft requires specific supporting modifications. It necessitates the use of Pac 1219 or TSP Double .660 valve springs.
