The Loctite 243 Blue Threadlocker is a general-purpose, medium-strength anaerobic adhesive designed to lock and seal metal nuts and bolts, preventing loosening due to vibration, shock, or shudder. This versatile liquid threadlocker cures on a variety of metals, including passive substrates like stainless steel, aluminum, and plated fasteners, even in the presence of minor surface contaminants such as corrosion prevention oils and cutting fluids. This threadlocker offers a shear strength of 1100 psi and a tensile strength of 230 psi, with a wide operating temperature range from -65°F to +360°F. Its medium viscosity (1300-3000 cPs) allows for controlled application. The product cures completely in 24 hours, providing a reliable bond. It also helps prevent corrosion and leakage, further enhancing the longevity of secured components. For optimal performance and consistency, Loctite recommends using a peristaltic hand pump or the Loctite Pro Pump for manual dispensing. While Loctite 243 can cure on fasteners with light coatings of oils, heavily oiled or contaminated surfaces may require cleaning with a degreaser like LOCTITE SF 7070. For passive metals or low temperatures that might slow curing, LOCTITE SF 7649 activator can be used. This product is intended for industrial use only and is not for consumer sale or use.
