Whitewalls are smooth, with all stampings and lettering in the black portion of the sidewall and are covered by our exclusive life of the tread warranty. Narrow whitewalls stop before the bead, resulting in a narrower band of exposed white rubber. Bright white rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction, creating a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. This style became popular in the early sixties. Bias ply tire construction (1900s-1970s) features ply cords at a 45-degree angle to the bead, overlapping in a crisscross pattern. This creates a strong tire, though bias ply tires may follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. They are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds.
