The Tomei TA301E-MT02A Poncam exhaust camshaft is engineered for high-power applications, specifically for the Mitsubishi 4B11 engine found in the EVO X models from 2008-2015. It features a proprietary VALC (Velocity and Acceleration Limit Control) profile. This advanced design allows the valves to open more rapidly and remain open for a longer duration, effectively increasing the area under the lift curve. This translates directly to enhanced air intake and, consequently, greater engine power. The VALC profile also addresses a critical aspect of valve train longevity. Unlike conventional designs, it ensures valves close at a slower rate, mitigating common issues associated with aggressive valve timing. Traditional high-lift camshafts can sometimes exceed the usable surface of the valve lifter, leading to damage. Tomei's VALC profile optimizes lobe travel on the lifter surface by reducing maximum cam velocity, preventing contact with the lifter's outer edge and reducing stress and wear on the valve train components. This results in a more durable and reliable performance upgrade. With a duration of 262 degrees and a lift of 9.80mm, this camshaft offers higher lift than other profiles with similar durations.
