Description

The 27WON FK8-6-141-10 Front Mount Intercooler is engineered to overcome the thermal limitations of the stock intercooler in the 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8), especially when the engine is tuned for increased power. Honda's original intercooler is sufficient for stock output but quickly becomes saturated, leading to power loss under demanding conditions. This upgraded intercooler boasts a significantly larger core: 41% taller (7.95" vs. 5.63") and 47% thicker (3.70" vs. 2.52"), maximizing frontal area behind the grille. Extensive testing and simulations optimized the inlet and outlet end tanks for better airflow distribution across the entire core, minimizing pressure drop from ~2.05psi to ~1.24psi. This design improves spool time and overall engine efficiency. Performance gains include a +10whp "drop-in" test result without tuning, and up to +26whp/+28wtq with proper tuning. The core is constructed from billet material for durability. Installation is estimated at 3 hours with a difficulty rating of 2/5. The kit includes all necessary hardware, brackets, and a crash bar seal for a complete installation. It is compatible with factory charge pipes and can be paired with 27WON Boost Tubes or the PRL Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit. The product comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and is designed in Vancouver, WA.
