The Schrick 284-degree performance camshaft is engineered for the S14 engine found in the E30 M3, aiming to boost mid-to-high RPM power while preserving low-end torque. This camshaft features a lobe duration of 284 degrees and a valve lift of 11.5mm. Specific valve timing is listed as 36-68 (IO-IC) and 68-36 (EO-EC). The intake valve clearance is 0.25mm, and the exhaust valve clearance is 0.30mm. Manufactured in Germany using advanced CNC equipment and wear-resistant chilled cast iron, this component comes with a one-year warranty. While new valve springs are not strictly required, it is recommended to ensure the new valve lift does not fully compress the existing springs, which may necessitate shimming the spring's installed height. The BMW Motorsport/Evo 3 valve springs are also a common recommendation. Proper air and fuel upgrades should be considered to maximize the benefits of this more aggressive camshaft profile. Camshaft tuning is essential to optimize air/fuel flow for specific engine builds and performance goals.
