The Schrick 288/280 Camshaft Set is engineered for performance-oriented BMW S54 engines found in the E46 M3, MZ3, and Z4M. This set features an intake lobe duration of 288° and an exhaust lobe duration of 280°, with both intake and exhaust valves reaching a lift of 12.5mm. The manufacturer notes that while new springs may not be required, it's crucial to ensure the valve lift does not fully compress the spring, potentially necessitating shims for installed height. Valve timing is specified as IO-IC: 12-96, 72-36 for intake and EO-EC: 55-45, 10-90 for exhaust. Valve clearance for both intake and exhaust is 0.25mm. A critical requirement for this camshaft set is the use of new Schrick DLC rocker arms, which are sold separately. The product description also highlights that a professional ECU tune, such as the Epic Motorsports S54 cam tune or Alpha-N tuning, is recommended to maximize the gains from these camshafts and minimize low-end torque loss. It is important to note that these camshafts are intended only for vehicles that will not be used, registered, or licensed for use on public highways.
