The LONG TSURF97A is a 29-gallon auxiliary fuel tank designed to extend the range of 3rd Generation Toyota 4Runner models manufactured between 1996 and 2002. This tank is constructed from durable 2mm aluminized steel and features an internally baffled design, which prevents fuel surge and negates the need for an aftermarket protective guard. This auxiliary fuel tank system is designed exclusively for gasoline or petrol engine variants. Long Range Automotive produces a separate tank model for diesel engines, but it is not offered or sold within the USA. The tank kit includes all necessary components for installation, although professional installation by an experienced workshop is recommended. Installation of the LONG TSURF97A tank should be performed by an experienced workshop. The DTE (Distance to Empty) function on your vehicle's trip computer will not remain accurate after installation, as the ECU is programmed for the original tank capacity. However, the actual fuel gauge will read correctly at empty. Users are advised to familiarize themselves with the new tank's fuel gauge behavior by noting how much fuel can be added at various gauge readings and by resetting a trip meter with each fill-up to track mileage. Transfer rate for the fuel pump is 2 liters per minute. Exhaust modifications may be required, and specific 'Exhaust Notes' should be consulted in the product specifications if applicable.
