3.0T / 4.0T Heat Exchanger

If your Audi’s 3.0T or 4.0T is running hot under boost, or if you are planning a tune and want to protect your investment, this upgrade is essential for your cooling system. The MercRacing heat exchanger is engineered from the ground up to provide sustained, high-capacity cooling under demanding performance conditions, addressing a key limitation of the OEM unit. When a tune, upgraded pulley, or harder driving is introduced, intake temperatures rise and power output decreases. This upgraded design utilizes the full frontal area of the vehicle, maximizing both surface area and coolant volume. The result is a significant reduction in intake air temperatures, ensuring they remain lower and more consistent even after repeated hard accelerations. Constructed with an all-aluminum TIG-welded build, this heat exchanger features a multi-pass design with high-density fins. It boasts approximately a 1-gallon coolant capacity, which is substantially more than the OEM unit. The design includes a crash bar mount with provided brackets, an integrated bleed port for easy air purging, and drain holes on the bottom header to prevent water accumulation. It is available in a black powder coat or a polished/raw aluminum finish, featuring an embossed MercRacing logo on the top header. Important fitment considerations include that vehicles equipped with a factory dynamic steering cooler (visible through the top of the grille) will require this unit to be relocated. It is recommended to add the Compact Fluid Cooler for this purpose. The package includes the MercRacing Upgrade Heat Exchanger, mounting brackets and hardware, and silicone hose(s) with clamps.
