The MercRacing Upgrade Heat Exchanger is engineered to address rising intake temperatures and power loss in Audi 3.0T and 4.0T engines, especially when performance tunes or upgraded components are added. By utilizing the full frontal area of the vehicle, it maximizes both surface area and coolant volume, resulting in dramatically lower and more consistent intake air temperatures, even after repeated hard pulls. This heat exchanger boasts a multi-pass design with high-density fins and an approximately 1-gallon coolant capacity, which is substantially larger than the OEM unit. Constructed entirely from aluminum with TIG-welded seams, it ensures durability and efficient heat transfer. Key features include a crash bar mount with included brackets, an integrated bleed port for simple air purging, and drain holes on the bottom header to prevent water accumulation. It is available in a black powder coat or a polished/raw aluminum finish, with an embossed MercRacing logo on the top header. The kit comes complete with the MercRacing Upgrade Heat Exchanger, all necessary mounting brackets and hardware, and silicone hoses with clamps. A crucial fitment note is that vehicles equipped with a factory dynamic steering cooler, typically visible through the top of the grille, will require this unit to be relocated.
