The Strange Engineering U1704 is a 3 1/2 inch seamless chrome moly driveshaft, engineered for the demands of high-horsepower drag racing. Constructed from heat-treated chrome-moly tubing with a 0.083-inch wall thickness, this driveshaft offers superior strength, torque capacity, and stability at high RPMs compared to mild steel alternatives. This driveshaft features forged 1350 weld ends and heavy-duty U-joints, ensuring robust performance. The build team utilizes special fixtures to ensure weld-ends are properly phased, eliminating driveline vibration. Each shaft is electronically balanced to a total run-out of less than 0.008 inches, critical for maintaining performance under extreme conditions. Proper fitment requires careful consideration of length, diameter, and intended RPM to avoid exceeding critical speed, which can lead to distortion, vibrations, and failure. Strange Engineering recommends contacting a sales associate if you have questions about selecting the correct driveshaft diameter for your application.
