The Driveshaft Shop aluminum driveshaft is a one-piece 3-inch 6061-T6 aluminum shaft designed for 2002-2007 Subaru WRX models with automatic transmissions or 6-speed conversions utilizing an R160 rear differential. This unit replaces the factory two-piece shaft with a lighter, more responsive design featuring replaceable and greaseable u-joints.

It is rated for up to 650 HP and 155 MPH. By eliminating the factory hanger bearing, this shaft provides improved throttle response.

The Driveshaft Shop aluminum driveshaft serves as a direct upgrade for 2002-2007 Subaru WRX vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission or those featuring a 6-speed conversion with an R160 rear differential. By replacing the heavy factory two-piece design with a lightweight, 3-inch diameter 6061-T6 aluminum shaft, the vehicle benefits from reduced rotational mass and improved drivetrain responsiveness. The absence of a moving center hanger bearing further increases precision during hard acceleration. This one-piece assembly is engineered to handle performance output up to 650 HP and top speeds of 155 MPH. It includes larger, replaceable, and greaseable u-joints to ensure long-term serviceability and reliability under demanding conditions. Installation requires specific attention to clearance due to the 3-inch diameter. You may need to perform minor modifications to the driveshaft tunnel to ensure proper fitment. It is mandatory to maintain at least 3/4-inch of clearance around the assembly during operation. Additionally, verify that all differential bushings are in good condition before installation, as worn bushings can lead to component damage. Improper fitment or failure to meet clearance requirements will void the warranty.
