3-Inch Chrome-Moly Driveshaft

The Strange Engineering U1699 is a 3-inch seamless chrome-moly driveshaft engineered for high-performance applications. Constructed from heat-treated 4130 chrome-moly tubing, it features a 3-inch outer diameter with a .083-inch wall thickness, optimized for strength and durability. This driveshaft is electronically balanced to less than .008” of total run-out, eliminating driveline vibration, and is fully MIG welded for robust construction. Compared to mild steel alternatives, chrome-moly driveshafts offer superior strength, torque handling, and stability at high RPMs, making them vital for drag racing and other demanding uses. The U1699 is equipped with Spicer HD 1350 series weld-ends and U-joints with a 1-3/16" cap size. For applications with approximately 600 WHP or less, the cast iron weld ends are recommended; for higher horsepower needs, Strange recommends their U1702 driveshaft with forged ends. To ensure a perfect fit and prevent critical speed failure, a specialized order form is utilized to determine the correct length, diameter, and operating RPM. A transmission yoke is required for balancing and is sold separately, with the ordering process prompting the purchase of one if not selected. If you are sending an existing yoke, there is an additional inspection charge, and this type of order cannot be placed online; a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number is required before shipping.
