302 CI BOSS Crate Engine

The Ford Performance 302 CI BOSS Crate Engine is a powerful and value-driven engine built with race-quality components, suitable as a foundation for various performance builds, including those with forced induction. It boasts a 302 cubic inch displacement and delivers 340 horsepower with a 9.0:1 nominal compression ratio. This engine features all forged internals, including pistons and connecting rods, and is built around a BOSS 4-bolt main block (M-6010-BOSS302). It includes Ford Performance aluminum X2 cylinder heads and a hydraulic roller camshaft (M-6250-E303) with .498" lift and 220 degrees duration at .050". A double roller timing chain set and a forged steel crankshaft are also standard. Installation may require modifications and additional components. A different timing cover, oil pan, or pickup might be necessary depending on the application. The engine includes a rear sump oil pan, standard rotation timing cover, and non-EFI valve covers. A fuel pump eccentric is installed to allow the use of a mechanical fuel pump. The included flywheel (M-6375-D302B) is designed for most 157-tooth manual transmission applications; other transmissions will require a proper neutral balance flywheel. An intake manifold and distributor are not included; an MSD distributor (M8598) is recommended. The damper may require a spacer for pulley alignment, and a steel distributor gear is necessary. This crate engine is suitable for kit cars, street rods, Mustangs, Fox-bodied cars, and trucks. The firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, consistent with 5.0L HO and 351W engines.
