The SPELAB Heavy-Duty Bar-and-Plate Intercooler is engineered to replace the brittle and failure-prone OEM intercooler in 2001-2005 LB7 and LLY Duramax trucks. Factory plastic end tanks are a common failure point, leading to boost leaks, power loss, and high Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs). This upgraded unit addresses these weaknesses directly. Constructed with indestructible cast aluminum end tanks and a high-density 2.05-inch bar-and-plate core (38.27" L x 18.86" H), this intercooler significantly increases cooling volume and thermal mass. This results in dramatically lower Intake Air Temperatures (IATs), crucial for the heat-prone LLY engines. The core design is optimized to maintain airflow to the radiator, balancing charge-air cooling with engine coolant temperature management. It is rated to handle 100+ PSI of boost, making it suitable for heavy towing, upgraded tunes, or general bulletproofing of high-mileage trucks. The high-density core efficiently absorbs heat, outperforming stock tube-and-fin designs. Premium T-bolt clamps are included for a secure, leak-free connection at the intercooler joints. This intercooler is a direct bolt-on replacement for 2001-2004 LB7 and 2004.5-2005 LLY Chevrolet/GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD 6.6L Duramax models. Please note that upgraded intercooler piping and silicone boots are sold separately, as this package includes only the intercooler and T-bolt clamps.
