383 Extreme Stroker Crate Engine

The Smeding 383 Extreme is a high-performance stroker engine for small-block Chevy platforms, engineered to combine big-block power output with the fitment of a small-block package. It features a heavy-duty 4-bolt main block with a 9.025" deck height and is internally/externally balanced for smooth operation. Internal components include a 4340 forged steel crankshaft, 5140 forged steel I-beam rods, and custom dish-style hypereutectic aluminum pistons with a 9.8:1 compression ratio. This unit is equipped with a hydraulic roller camshaft featuring .510"/.521" lift and 231°/236° duration at .050", paired with aluminum cylinder heads that utilize 180cc intake ports and 2.02"/1.60" valves. The induction system uses a mid-rise air-gap dual-plane intake. A torque converter with a 2,400-2,800 RPM stall speed is recommended for optimal performance.
