Overview

The Smeding Performance 383 Extreme is a high-performance small-block Chevy stroker engine designed for both street driving and high-output use. It features a heavy-duty 4-bolt main block, forged steel internals, and aluminum cylinder heads to provide reliable power.

The engine delivers a broad torque curve and includes a hydraulic roller camshaft, contributing to its signature exhaust tone. It is fully compatible with common street upgrades like power brakes and overdrive automatic transmissions.

The Smeding Performance 383 Extreme is a crate engine engineered to provide big-block power in a small-block Chevy package. It is constructed using a heavy-duty 4-bolt main block with a 9.025" deck height and a 1-piece rear main seal. Internals consist of a forged 4340 steel crankshaft with a 3.800" stroke, 5140 forged steel I-beam rods, and custom dish-style hypereutectic aluminum pistons resulting in a 9.8:1 compression ratio. Performance is optimized by Smeding aluminum cylinder heads with 180cc intake ports and 2.02"/1.60" valves, paired with a hydraulic roller camshaft featuring .510"/.521" lift and 231°/236° duration. The setup is topped with a mid-rise air-gap dual-plane intake and full-roller 1.5 ratio rocker arms. Proper operation of this engine requires a torque converter with a 2,400-2,800rpm stall speed. It is backed by a 3-year, unlimited-mile warranty for added peace of mind.
