The Chevrolet 383 bare block is a cast-iron 4-bolt engine block designed for 1986-later style applications. It features a 4.004" bore and is torque plate honed, with clearance for a 3.800" stroker crankshaft. This block is machined for both hydraulic roller and flat tappet valvetrains.

The Chevrolet Performance 19433406 is a 1986-later style 383 bare engine block, ideal for building a custom small-block performance or stock replacement engine. It is engineered to support a maximum of 450 horsepower, making it suitable for street machines and mild-to-moderate builds. Constructed from cast iron, this block features a robust 4-bolt main design and a 1-piece rear main seal. The lifter valleys are machined to accommodate both hydraulic roller and flat tappet valvetrains. It is clearanced for a 3.800" stroker crankshaft and features non-siamesed bores that promote better cylinder-to-cylinder cooling. The cylinder walls are designed with a production-spec thickness, and the block is torque plate-honed for enhanced ring seal and compression. Key specifications include a standard deck height of 9.025", a bore range of 4.000" to 4.030", and a gray iron cap material. The engine block has a wet sump oiling system and a straight main bolt degree. It weighs 181 pounds. This engine block is intended for use ONLY on pre-pollution controlled vehicles, specifically defined as 1965 and older U.S. manufactured California certified vehicles, and 1967 and older U.S. manufactured federally certified vehicles. It is designed for pre-1976 street vehicles and off-road applications.
