3M Adhesion Promoter for Acrylic Foam Tape

The 3M Automotive Adhesion Promoter, Sponge Applicator Packet (06396) is a fast-drying liquid primer engineered to significantly enhance the adhesion of 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape and 3M™ Acrylic Plus Tape. This product is crucial for achieving a permanent and reliable bond on various low-surface-energy (LSE) plastic materials frequently used in automotive trim and exterior components. It effectively prepares surfaces such as PPO, TPO, PP, PC, and ABS for tape application. Application is streamlined with the included sponge applicator packets, making it easy to apply a thin, uniform coating. Each packet covers up to 150 square inches, ensuring efficient use. The promoter dries rapidly, in as little as 30-90 seconds, allowing for prompt tape application within an hour of primer drying for optimal results. Maintaining a clean, dry, and contaminant-free bonding surface is essential prior to application. For proper application and optimal performance, ensure the bonding surface is thoroughly cleaned and dry. Use an untreated, lint-free cloth with an appropriate adhesive cleaner, followed by a wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Apply a thin, uniform coating with the sponge applicator, no thicker than 0.002 inches. The primer must dry for 30-90 seconds before tape application, and tape should be applied within one hour of primer application. Clean-up of the adhesion promoter can be achieved by scrubbing with MEK or acetone solvents. This adhesion enhancer has a shelf life of two years when stored in its original container within a temperature range of 40°F to 100°F (4°C to 38°C) and 0-95% relative humidity.
