The 577F flap disc continually wears away with use to expose fresh abrasive mineral, ensuring a fast and consistent cut while creating a blended finish. Flap discs typically produce a finish one grade finer than their own grade, reducing the need for additional finishing steps. A grinding aid is included to reduce temperatures during processes involving heat-sensitive alloys like stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium.
