The 3M 81373 is a Type C abrasive fiber disc designed for general purpose metalworking. It features a 7-inch diameter with a 7/8-inch center hole and a 36-grit, very coarse grade. The disc is constructed with aluminum oxide abrasive on a durable fiber backing, utilizing a closed coat construction for maximum durability and cut.

This versatile disc is suitable for a variety of applications including grinding, weld removal, finishing, and blending on common metals such as carbon steel. The closed coat ensures that the mineral grains cover nearly 100% of the backing, providing durability under pressure. Its stiff fiber backing withstands wear and tough applications like beveling. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the disc with a face plate of appropriate density to ensure the abrasive mineral self-sharpens, maximizing the disc's lifespan.
