Total Seal AP Steel Gas Ported Piston Ring sets are a preferred choice for race engine builders. These rings feature strategically sized and placed horizontal slots, allowing combustion gas to enter through the groove and behind the ring to gas-load, significantly improving ring sealing. This technology provides gas-ported performance without requiring gas-ported pistons. Extensively tested in various race engine applications, these rings consistently show increases in ring sealing. They are designed for use in all applications, including extreme nitrous, boost, turbo, and forced induction.

Total Seal’s Gas Ported Rings feature unique horizontal slots machined into the top of the ring, directing combustion gases to a bevel behind the ring to push the ring out towards the cylinder wall and improve the seal. By gas porting the ring instead of the piston, the top ring land of the piston is stronger, especially near the exhaust valve relief pockets. The gas ports in the ring are self-cleaning due to the ring's rotation, resulting in longer-lasting ring seal. Utilizing 440B Stainless Steel instead of Cast Iron, these rings offer greater ductility and tensile strength than standard cast rings. Total Seal LS Gas Ported Rings utilize their proprietary AP ring process, yielding more horsepower and less blow-by due to tighter tolerances than OE replacement rings.
