SRP Professional series forged flat-top pistons (part number 142979) are designed for Chevrolet Big Block engines. These pistons feature a 4.280-inch bore, 1.270-inch compression height, and a -3.00cc dome volume. Constructed from high-silicon 4032 aluminum alloy, they offer a significant weight reduction (up to 20%) compared to traditional pistons, ensuring superior strength and quiet operation with reduced piston-to-wall clearance. Key features include accumulator grooves for improved ring seal, a forced pin oiler for enhanced wrist pin lubrication, and CNC machined domes with radiused valve reliefs for optimized flame travel. They are engineered for normally aspirated, moderate forced induction, or nitrous applications, and come standard with high-performance skirt coating and low-drag performance piston rings. The kit includes pin fitting, double spiro locks (#990-042-CS), and 990-2930-15-51S wrist pins (150 grams each). The CNC machined ring grooves are designed for 1/16, 1/16, 3/16mm rings (rings sold separately). Compression ratios vary depending on cylinder head volume: 9.0:1 with 112cc, 8.6:1 with 118cc, and 8.3:1 with 124cc. Oil rail supports are also included.
