4340 Chrome Moly Connecting Rod Set (84mm+ Bore)

Constructed from vacuum-drawn 4340 Chrome Moly steel using a 2-piece forging process, these rods are subjected to a multi-stage heat treatment to maximize fatigue strength and ensure dimensional stability, keeping big-end bores round for the life of the bearings. The optimized H-beam design, validated through CAD drafting and FEA analysis, provides an excellent strength-to-weight ratio for powerful, high-RPM European engines. These specialized connecting rods are designed for 84mm+ bore sizes, commonly found in VW R32 VR6 engines, and utilize stronger ARP 3/8" rod bolts. Each set is finish machined and honed in the USA, with tolerances as tight as .0003" ground on Sunnen brand equipment, resulting in industry-leading low failure rates.
