48RE Transmission Package

The ATS Diesel 48RE Transmission Package is engineered to be the strongest and most reliable part of your drivetrain, addressing the common failure points of the stock 48RE transmission in Dodge Cummins trucks. This package is designed for 2003-2007 Dodge 2500 and 3500 models with the 5.9L Cummins engine, available for both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The upgrade significantly increases torque capacity by adding more clutch discs to the Forward, Overdrive, and Overdrive Brake clutch packs, utilizing durable Borg Warner and Raybestos clutch materials for longevity. Hard parts are also reinforced, with the factory strut anchor replaced by a billet strut anchor for more precise band application, and the stock accumulator piston swapped for a billet unit. The Low/Reverse band and Intermediate/2nd gear band are upgraded with performance friction material, complemented by a 1:5.0 band apply lever. The valve body undergoes extensive modifications, enabling torque converter lockup in 1st and 2nd gears, circulating transmission fluid in park/neutral/reverse, and an increase in line pressure. A proprietary TV valve sleeve is installed to prevent sticking, and the valve body is tuned for smooth, quick, and firm shifts, enhancing drivability on the street and during towing. A minimum of a billet input shaft and flex plate are recommended for optimal performance with this aggressive valve body. This package includes the ATS Built 48-RE Auto Trans, ATS 5 Star Viskus Clutch Drive Torque Converter, ATS Extra Deep Transmission Pan, a gasket and seal overhaul kit, and bearings and bushings. It is available in multiple stages (Stage 1 through Stage 6) with varying horsepower ratings up to 1000 HP, with higher stages incorporating components like billet input shafts, flex plates, intermediate shafts, and output shafts.
