The Tomei valve guides are precision-engineered components designed to withstand the demanding conditions of high-horsepower and high-RPM 4B11T engines. Constructed from Phosphor Bronze (Cn-Sn-P alloy), these guides benefit from excellent tensile strength and heat transfer capabilities, crucial for managing the extreme temperatures generated in performance applications. Phosphor Bronze's inherent low-friction properties are key to maintaining optimal valve train clearances. This precise control alleviates stress on components, preventing seizures and potential cracking that can occur under severe operating loads. The set includes 16 valve guides, consisting of 8 intake and 8 exhaust guides, ensuring a complete replacement for the 4B11 engine. These valve guides are specifically designed for the 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Evolution X (4B11T). Given their application in high-stress environments, Tomei emphasizes the importance of regular maintenance and periodic inspections to ensure longevity. Accelerated wear can occur under specific conditions, such as increased lateral pressure from rocker arm assemblies, rough valve stem walls, the use of high-lift aggressive camshafts, or excessive carbon buildup. Valve spring surging, defective valve seat cuts, incorrect clearances (outside the 0.03-0.04mm range), worn valves, or defective valve designs can also contribute to increased wear rates.
