The VAVA 4K VA-VD004 is a single-channel dash camera launched in July 2019, featuring a distinctive puck-shaped design. It utilizes an Ambarella H22A55 processor and a Sony Exmor R IMX317 CMOS sensor to deliver native 4K video recording at 2160p resolution and 30fps, with an average bitrate of 15 Mbps. Daytime video quality is rated as very good, capturing a substantial amount of detail, though night video quality is described as good but not spectacular, a common characteristic for 4K cameras. The camera's unique mounting system combines both suction and adhesive for windshield attachment, designed for window rakes between 17° and 58° and not suitable for vertical windshields. It features a 360° swivel capability, useful for recording side interactions. Lacking an onboard screen or buttons, status is indicated by two small LEDs, and user interaction is managed via WiFi through the VAVA Dash app for Android and iOS. It includes a separate Bluetooth button for taking photos or initiating video recording. Key features include a g-sensor, built-in GPS, and non-buffered parking mode. However, it is equipped with a 320 mAh battery rather than a supercapacitor, making it less suitable for high-temperature environments, and the camera itself tends to run warm. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 50°C. It supports MicroSD cards up to 256GB. The VAVA VA-VD004 comes with a 12-month warranty, extendable to 24 months upon registration.
