Because pushrod length requirements can vary significantly based on block deck height, head deck height, head stud boss height, rocker arm design, cam base circle size, lifter design, and valve stem length, professional measurement is strongly recommended. When building a custom valvetrain, it is highly advised to use an adjustable pushrod measuring tool to confirm the exact length required for your specific application, as component variations mean that a length fitting one engine may not be suitable for another. Hardened pushrods are essential when performing any camshaft or valvetrain upgrade to ensure the system remains stable and free from fatigue.
