5.3 GEN V Truck Cam Kit

The Brian Tooley Racing 5.3 GEN V Truck Cam Kit is engineered to upgrade 2014 and newer Gen V LT truck engines. This kit provides a selection of camshaft grinds tailored for different performance goals, from enhancing daily drivability to achieving significant power gains for project vehicles. Whether you aim to address DOD/AFM operation or simply seek more power, BTR offers a solution. Customers can choose from multiple stages, each with distinct performance characteristics. Stage 1 offers stock idle quality and drivability with expected gains of 35 horsepower and 25 lb/ft of torque, ideal for improving the stock powerband and low-end torque. Stage 2 provides a mild "gallop" at idle and increased midrange torque, with gains of 44 horsepower and 24 lb/ft. Stage 3 introduces a "cammed up" sound with lope and significant midrange power, yielding 51 horsepower and 22 lb/ft. The Norris camshaft offers a rumble without sacrificing comfort and makes tremendous down-low torque, while Stage 4 delivers an aggressive, racy lope with substantial gains of 67 horsepower and 20 lb/ft, though it recommends an upgraded torque converter. All stages are compatible with factory torque converters for Stages 1-3 and the Norris grind, while Stage 4 recommends an upgrade. Specific valve springs (BTR91120-16 for Stages 1-3 and Norris, SK013 for Stage 4) and lifters (X12499225-16) are required. A 4-degree VVT limiter is also necessary for all configurations. The product is designed to fit L83/L84 engines and is noted as Brian Tooley's personal recommendation for L83/L84 equipped trucks aiming to enhance their performance.
