The PLM Mercedes Benz 5.5L AMG Heat Exchanger XL is an upgraded intercooler designed for E55, CLS55, and SL55 AMG models. This XL version offers a 25% larger surface area compared to the standard model to combat overheating issues common in supercharged AMG vehicles, especially under demanding conditions or increased boost.

It features a 2.25-liter fluid capacity and 4000 square inches of fin area for enhanced heat dissipation and reduced intake air temperatures (IAT). The heat exchanger mounts in the stock position and is constructed with non-epoxied, furnace-brazed cores and CNC-machined billet aluminum necks for durability and optimal heat transfer. It does not require cutting or modifications for installation on E55 models.

The PLM Mercedes Benz 5.5L AMG Heat Exchanger XL is engineered to address the common overheating issues experienced by supercharged Mercedes AMG vehicles, particularly the E55, CLS55, and SL55 models. This XL version boasts a 25% larger design, providing significantly improved cooling performance over standard units. It offers a substantial 2.25-liter fluid capacity and an expansive 4000 square inches of fin area, specifically designed to combat heat soak and maintain consistent performance. For the E55 model, it mounts in the stock position without the need for cutting or vehicle modifications. However, for CLS55 and SL55 applications, slight modifications involving making two new holes on the provided side brackets will be necessary, though no permanent alterations to the vehicle itself are required. An installation note for SL55 owners: due to the driver-side hose connection on this model, a longer hose will be needed. PLM is happy to provide this hose at no extra cost if you select SL55 when ordering. The product is backed by a 1-year warranty and a 30-day return policy.
